The Lido in the city of Peterborough first opened in 1936 and is one of the few survivors of its type still in use in the UK. A striking building with elements of art deco design, the lido and surrounding gardens cover an area of roughly two and a half acres (1 hectare), lying adjacent to the embankment of the River Nene south of the city centre
The main pool is 8 feet 10 inches (2.69 m) deep at the deep end sloping to 2 feet 11 inches (0.89 m) at the shallow end and holds 500,000 gallons (2,273 m³) of water. The site, which also includes two other heated outdoor pools (learner and paddling), a large sunbathing lawn, balcony and refreshment area was designated a Grade II listed building in 1992.
We have been told that the staff, who are all trained in Safeguarding, are looking forward to and are enthusiastic about this Great British Skinny Dip event!
Don’t stay in watching the TV come and have some fun! Encourage a friend to come, perhaps someone who is new to naturism or who wants to try it for the first time. The GBSD is open to everyone.
The Lido café will be open while we are there. The main Pool Car Park is free after 4pm. The swim starts at 7:30pm until 9:30pm. You must exit the complex by 10pm. We will have access to the main Pool. The balcony will be closed off for privacy, but everything else including the small park area at the rear will be accessible to us. Its going to be a fabulous event!
