GBSD Peak Season is Upon Us – Let’s Make it a Year to Remember!

Having not looked recently at the Great British Skinny Dip calendar (because of recent eye surgery that will prevent me from getting into water for several months!), I’ve now checked to see where things stand. And where they stand looks pretty good!

In the next week or so, there are dips at:

Spectrum Swim, Birmingham, 25 Jun and 2 July

June 25 also brings the fabulous Morfa Dyffryn Beach Day, Dyffryn Ardudwy Wales and a dip at the iconic Peterborough Lido, Cambridgeshire

And on 4 July, there’s Splash Northern Ireland Water Park, Moneymore Magherafelt, Northern Ireland.

...and plenty more after that - keep an eye on the GBSD calendar

If you’re asking yourself why British Naturism puts such a strong focus on the Great British Skinny Dip and what’s in it for you, here are a few thoughts.

First, there’s something just so…. nice… about skinny-dipping. I recently mentioned the GBSD to some family members. They’re not Naturists, but talking about skinny-dipping brought back to them lovely memories of swimming naked. Their joy in being in water sans bathing suits is a feeling BN members can certainly second!

Second, a major reason for the events is to raise money for the British Heart Foundation, which strives to keep us all healthy. Like BHF, BN is concerned about health and well-being, and our stronger ties with BHF give us a better opportunity to spread the word about those aspects of Naturism to the wider public.

Third, by bringing friends, family and colleagues to dips, we’re helping to spread the word about the many benefits of Naturism and to promote greater understanding of what social nudity is all about.

It’s all win-win!

Let me encourage you all to sign up for the swims, host them or find suitable venues willing to host them, and to get the word out. Follow us on social media too to get the very latest news!

You’ll find all the information and resources you need on the website, including social media tools, risk assessment forms for hosting swims and – importantly – a complete fundraising kit.

We issued press release this week and so you should read or hear a lot about GBSD in the media in the coming days!
